The Birth of Venus is a multmedia opera inspired by the painting of the same name by Botticelli which is credited to having gave birth to the Renaissance. But this time, Venus, the goddess of love and protector of the arts, emerges not on the shores of Venice but on the shore of modern hi tech USA, where environmental exploitation, corporate greed and spiritual alienation have induced a modern dark age. Can she save us? With her "quantum brain-mind connection machine" she transforms herself into a hi-tech goddess of the 21st century and gives birth to a new paradigm of love.
Large rear screen video projection and video sculptures by Marco Fuoco.
